SNAP was formed in November 2004 by Roisin Phillips and Sheila Colgan along with other mothers in the Kilkeel and Mourne area of South Down. This is a rural area where employment is mainly farming/fishing and access to facilities and infrastructure is limited. It was formed as a direct result of this lack of facilities and support for parents of special needs children and young adults in the area.
At present 40 families are registered with Snap with numbers growing all the time as word of our group spreads.
